Patient Safety Patient safety is one of the Nation's most pressing health care challenges. Safety is a top priority at HaysMedicalCenter and is aligned with our core purpose "to help people be healthy." You can help ensure you have a safe experience with us by knowing your rights, by being informed about your health, and by knowing what to expect when you go to the hospital. Everyone has a role in preventing healthcare errors. Patients are encouraged to take an active role in their healthcare.
HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Under the direction of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) developed a survey instrument called HCAHPS. HCAHPS is designed to measure and publicly report patient perceptions of care so consumers can make informed decisions when choosing a hospital.
Hospitals are required to participate in HCAHPS in order to receive full CMS reimbursement. In the near future, HCAHPS results for all hospitals will be available online on the CMS website. At Hays Medical Center, we recognize the importance of patient satisfaction and quality improvement. We have chosen to provide our customers with our HCAHPS data before CMS launches the data on their website. Hays Medical Center is continually striving towards improving customer service and quality related activities. If you have any questions regarding HCAHPS, please feel free to contact Nikki Adams, Director of Associate Development at 785-623-5019 or email nadams@haysmed.com. Click here for the reports.
