Hays Medical Center is a 192-bed not-for-profit facility employing over 1,100 Associates. We support healthcare as a component of rural life by combining tertiary services in a rural delivery system using primary care physicians, local hospitals, and other healthcare providers. We have completed a $32 million hospital renovation project, a $15 million Wellness Center, and a $17 million Rehabilitation Center that houses our DeBakey Heart Institute. HMC does approximately 200 open heart surgeries per year, case volume of 400 cardiothoracic & vascular surgeries per year and has state-of-the art ICU and CPCU. Other services include a twenty-four hour inpatient pharmacy and ER, complete imaging services, Cancer Center and electronic medical record.
The city of Hays is midway between Denver and Kansas City on Interstate 70 and has a population of 23,000. Education is a top priority with a nationally recognized public school system, private Catholic schools, and a four year university, Fort Hays State University. There is hunting, fishing, private and public golf courses, and other cultural events which provide a vast quality of entertainment for all ages.
